In the heart of the Dolomites, the small town of Selva lights up with the “Nadel da mont” event, or Christmas in the mountains. Already known for its proximity to the Sellaronda ski area, at 1,500 meters Val Gardena is a magical place throughout the winter but especially during the Christmas period.
From 7 December to 6 January 2024, the ski slopes will be “recreated” in the little town of Selva. A ski lift will allow you to float above the Christmas market while you dangle your feet above the wooden houses.
If a large market is what you’re looking for, you won’t find it in Selva but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm. Nine wooden houses plus several cabins will offer handcrafted gift items objects and lots of local food and flavor.
During the early evening, the town has many musical and folklore shows scheduled that represent the ancient traditions of the area.
If you have the chance to visit from December 27th to 30th you will also have the pleasure of seeing the enormous snow sculptures that are being built for the competition now in its 27th edition. The theme this year is a farmer’s life which is very close to the hearts of the locals.
More details are available on the official website, Mountain Christmas.
