Celebrating Its 5th Edition
“Mugello da Fiaba” is a unique and original festival of literature, theater, music, creativity and art for children, teenagers and their families! This year’s edition will be from May 7th to 12th, at Villa Pecori Giraldi, in Borgo San Lorenzo (Florence). The event in a short time has gained attention at the regional level.
The event includes a rich calendar of highly educational events for children and teenagers, all at the prestigious Villa Pecori Giraldi. The Villa, formerly the Museum of the Chini Manifattura and the Piccolo Museo dei Bambini, will host dozens of initiatives during the various days of the festival: from children’s theater to meetings with famous authors, from concerts to dance performances and many creative arts workshops.
The free entrance and variety of events proposed make “Mugello da Fiaba” an anticipated attraction for families. Adults will not just be chaperones or spectators, but will have fun as protagonists playing an active role. Thanks to an agreement with the “Chino Chini” Institute, the students of the course of social health services will provide a welcome service to visitors and will offer a series of workshops aimed at kindergartners. In addition, the students of the secondary school of Borgo San Lorenzo will propose a series of theatrical performances.
This year’s theme will be “What an idea, guys!” dedicated not only to genius, creativity and ideas that have changed the history of the world, but also the genius that is in each of us. Speaking of geniuses, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of his death, there will be activities geared toward Leonardo da Vinci and also to Galileo Galilei, Guttenberg and a space for small inventions and discoveries that make everyday life easier. From books to the wheel, wax, light, the radio and the phone, “Mugello da Fiaba” will be a chance to discover the genius that surrounds us.
The first few days of the event Villa Pecori will be open exclusively for students of all levels with a wide range of educational workshops that will be held both in the morning and in the afternoon with the possibility to stay for the whole day inside the Villa and the beautiful park.
As in past editions, there will also be various competitions this year. This year’s novelty is the “Happy Birthday Mugello da Fiaba!” that will reward the best drawings and manual works of new objects that are believed to be useful inventions for everyday activities, or of existing objects to which to attribute new functions and new forms. The competition, open to children, school children and adults, aims to stimulate inventiveness and creativity, encouraging interpersonal and mutual exchange.
The event’s official website will be updated soon with the complete program.
