A new, original event dedicated to Italian and European cheeses is making its debut in Cremona!
Mice all over the world have already marked their calendars for the event of the year: Formaggi e Sorrisi or Cheese & Friends from April 12 to 14, 2019 in Cremona.
Cremona’s magnificent, historical center is the perfect setting for this brand new event which will appeal not only to people in the trade, but to the general public, families and children as well. Cheese & Friends will be an opportunity to get to know the rich world of cheeses and taste Italian and European excellence all in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Cremona will turn into an open-air street party. An explosive mixture of clowns, jugglers, fire-eaters, dancing, music, tightrope walkers, acrobats and stilt walkers.
The choice of hosting the debut of this event in Cremona was not accidental. Cremona lies in the heart of the Lombardy cheese district where some of the most interesting of Italy’s over 400 cheeses (400- that is not a typo!) are created.
All along the streets, under the porticoes and arches, in the shops, and in the squares, producers will offer the possibility to taste and buy their creations. Imagine a long, fragrant route of stalls representing Italy, Europe, and beyond where you can compare and learn about the different qualities and varieties of cheese.
Numerous competitions will be hosted as well. Local farms from Lombardy, artisan cheeses, traditional Italian cheeses and many others will battle it out and the winner will be awarded by a jury of experts based on aroma, flavor and visual appeal.
Renowned chefs will also be demonstrating original recipes (cheese-based of course) in live cooking shows.”Live Formaggi” will give visitors the chance of assisting in making cheese and learning some techniques from the experts.
Traditional flag-wavers, live music, art and comic book shows, fireworks, cheese-making workshops for kids, a marching band parade…and the list goes on and on! You won’t want to miss this amazing event!
