What to See in and Around Perugia
Magic is in the air during the Holidays in Perugia. The Christmas market inside the Rocca Paolina is filled with magical colors and scents.
Perugia is also famous worldwide for its chocolate. In fact, not far from the historic center is the famous Perugina® Chocolate Factory, open to the public.
Perugia is rich in art, culture and breathtaking views. It is also called a “museum city” because of its charm and great artistic heritage. There are so many things to see, but it is possible to visit the city even in a single day. (Read our itinerary in Perugia).
Just 30 minutes away, we find another place rich in history, nature, and spirituality: we are obviously talking about Assisi. The city became famous for St. Francis of Assisi, a founding friar of the religious order of the same name. Assisi is an example of a sanctuary city. It welcomes the famous basilica complex, composed of the lower and upper basilica, where works of extreme value are kept, which is why it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
It takes about 40 minutes to reach Lake Trasimeno from the historic center. Nature, art cities and magnificent medieval villages, the shores of this lake are undoubtedly worthy of a visit.
