A chance to experience a nighttime hike in the hills outside of Florence sponsored by the Senio Bike organization in Palazzuolo sul Senio. The nighttime hike will take place on Friday, July 5th at 8:30 pm. The route is about 7 km with 350 meters of positive gradient. Trained guides will accompany the group at the head and tail end.

The Municipality of Palazzuolo sul Senio lies just 45 km northeast of Florence in an area known as Mugello and borders the Emilia-Romagna region. It is a small town surrounded by woods and chestnut groves. The woods are lush, rich in timber, and a real economic resource for the local residents.
In this small town there are no polluting companies or intensive cultivation. The waters flow down from the mountain peaks that surround the town and then pour into the river Reno. Palazzuolo sul Senio is part of the elite list of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy (i Borghi più Belli d’Italia). This little corner of paradise has remained unknown to many, but those who discover it will not soon forget it.
In 1999, Palazzuolo was named among the 10 most livable municipalities in Italy. The community is supported through some micro-enterprises and on green tourism. It’s ideal for those looking for an off the beaten path place to stay in total relaxation. Its hiking trails are perfect for various outdoor sports such as hiking and mountain biking. Throughout the year visitors can also enjoy various cultural events.

The Senio Bike group was founded by a passionate group of mountain bikers from Palazzuolo sul Senio whose goal is to preserve and share the beauty of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
The meeting / departure for the night trek will be from the central Piazza Ettore Alpi. A buffet will be offered to all participants at the conclusion of the hike. No registration is required and it is a free event. Mandatory headlamp and trekking shoes recommended.
