What to Do and See in Cesenatico
Cesenatico is a characteristic seaside town on the Riviera Romagnola that combines history, culture and the bella vita. It is a very pretty fishing village in the province of Forlì-Cesena. This small town is home to the port designed by Leonardo Da Vinci (il Porto Canale Leonardesco) where there are museums, restaurants, markets and evocative local restaurants, with brightly colored external walls.
The Maritime Museum is the only existing floating museum in Italy and among the few existing in the world. The museum is divided into two parts: one on solid ground and the other floating. In the first, you’ll find the history of maritime technologies and some shipwrecks from the 17th century; while in the second, there are ancient boats called trabaccoli.
You’ll also want to see Piazza delle Conserve where there are impressive wells six meters deep that were used for storing food in layers of ice.
If you enjoy trying local cuisine, then springtime in Cesenatico will be perfect for you! There are many tasting events dedicated to the local varieties of Mediterranean fish, generally known as pesce azzurro. Local specialties will be available throughout town at various stands by restaurants and caterers.
