Just a few steps from the Fontana Maggiore, with one of the most beautiful medieval views of Perugia, is the Il Cantinone restaurant. Housed in ancient cellars dating back to the fourteenth century, it has been offering a prized menu based on traditional Umbrian dishes for over a century. It also serves excellent pizza.
Another restaurant not to be missed is Al Tartufo. Set among the historic alleyways of Perugia, in the heart of the historic center of the city, it specializes in a truffle-based cuisine. Each dish created, in fact, is designed to match the fresh truffle of the season, so that everyone, depending on their tastes, can decide if and where to add it.
Finally La Taverna, a landmark of the Umbrian culinary tradition, is located a few meters from Corso Vannucci in an old cellar. Among the specialties of this restaurant, le caramelle rosse with gorgonzola stand out, a dish made of homemade pasta filled with red turnips on a bed of gorgonzola cream.
GETTING THERE
The hotel is located in a great location outside the restricted traffic area. You’ll be able to drive directly to the hotel by car without permits, park your car and travel by foot through the narrow medieval streets of the center.
Those arriving by train: from Perugia Central Station “Perugia Fontivegge” or by bus “Terminal Bus Piazza Partigiani”, you can easily reach the hotel by public transport. The lines are the “TS” and the “P” from Piazza Italia, or you can take the shuttle that connects the city with the San Francesco di Assisi airport, about 15 km from the hotel
