Just like Central Park’s ice skating rink in New York, Milan proves that twirling around on ice always makes it feel more like the Holidays. It’s even more fun knowing that it’s only temporary!
For the third consecutive year, the Gae Aulenti on Ice skating rink is back in Milan, for what looks like is destined to become a holiday tradition. During the Holiday Season and beyond, the famous elevated square, located in the north-east area of the city, between Isola, Garibaldi and Porta Nuova, will be covered in white and lit up to welcome skaters.
For a few weeks, the Milanese and tourists alike can test their skating skills on the rink surrounded by skyscrapers. From the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest), the Garibaldi Towers, the Lombard Regional Council building, the Galfa Tower, the Municipal Technical Services Tower, the Pirelli Skyscraper, the Solaria, Solea, Aria residential towers, a portion of the Diamond Tower, to the Unicredit Tower and the Unicredit Pavilion- they’re all here. A perfect destination to spend an alternative winter afternoon, outside the warm walls of your house or during a visit to the metropolitan city, immersed in a Christmas atmosphere.
Just a few steps from the rink you’ll find the Christmas Village, a place where you can fully enjoy the holiday atmosphere. Numerous events are going to be held here until January 7th, 2019: from the local handicraft stalls to the to food and wine market, from street artists performances to the puppet theatre and, last but not least, Santa Claus’ House, where children can mail their Christmas letter.
From December 28 to January 31, the calendar will include Street Food and music in anticipation of the new year.
The ice rink is open everyday from November 15, 2018 to February 17, 2019, from 10.00 am to midnight, and until 1 am on Saturdays.
The cost is € 8.00 for one hour, € 10 for two hours and includes skate rental, or only 6 euro if you have your own skates.
