The Farmhouse
Near the city of Florence, in the rural landscape marked by farm roads, rows of vines and olive trees and dotted with cypress trees, stands this agriturismo farmhouse. The property is comprised of about 50 hectares of olive trees and vineyards which produce a very precious extra virgin olive oil and an excellent Chianti wine. They’ve been harvested in the same way for centuries. The farmhouse is surrounded by greenery, away from the noise of the city, but at the same time, in a perfect location. You’ll be able to make day trips to the art cities of Florence, Siena, Arezzo and more. The farmhouse is personally managed by the family, both in the production of typical products and in running the farmhouse. This allows guests to experience the true Tuscan farming culture, thus appreciating simple, “healthy living”.
What to See and Do
Located between Florence, Arezzo and Siena, the area of the Municipality of Reggello is in a strategic position to visit the major Tuscan cities while at the same time offering its guests a rejuvenating stay in the heart of the landscape and tradition of the region. Immersed in the green of the forests and among the immense olive groves, we find beautiful churches and parish churches, but also fascinating castles.
The Parish Church of San Pietro in Cascia is a must-see. Perfectly preserved, thanks to constant and careful restoration, it represents a typical example of Romanesque architecture. It is also the only church in the area to have preserved the original shape of the portico. To the right of the church, a majestic bell tower covered in pietra serena (gray sandstone) stretches towards the sky.
Next to the church, you’ll find another very important point of interest, both historical and cultural: the Masaccio Museum of Sacred Art. This museum houses paintings of Florentine art, silverware, ecclesiastical objects and a collection of sacred vestments. Furthermore, there’s a room entirely dedicated to the San Giovenale Triptych (Trittico di San Giovenale) by Masaccio. Also noteworthy are the frescoes of La camera del Pievano, a large altarpiece by Agnolo Guidotti da Fiesole and the Annunciation by Bronzino.
The Valleombrosa Abbey is also noteworthy: this mighty construction with its tower and bell tower, appears to be a gigantic castle at first sight. This abbey guards works of art of immeasurable historical and artistic value.
Nature lovers can rent bicycles and ebikes or hike along paths such as the path of the “seven bridges”.
For gourmets, the area offers various options among wineries, wine bars, typical restaurants and trattorias that offer tourists a wide choice of typical local dishes, which can be enjoyed accompanied by a glass of wine.
