The little Tuscan village of Palazzuolo sul Senio is known for big events. The event known as Medioevo alla Corte degli Ubaldini (Medieval Times in the Court of the Ubaldini Family) takes place on the third weekend of July. It’s a historical reenactment like no other!
The Event
For three days the historic village of Palazzuolo, in the province of Florence, is transformed into a village of the Middle Ages. For over twenty years now, thousands of people have been coming here for this special event. The streets of the village are filled with artisan markets, unique stalls, as well as entertaining shows, music, battles, tournaments and more!
The event is designed for everyone, both for adults and children. During your stay in the Mugello Apennines, you can enjoy a weekend of fun as you’re transported back to the Middle Ages at the court of the famous Ubaldini family. Year after year, this historical re-enactment is meticulously and passionately organized by the Oste Ghibellina group. Their primary goal is to share the local history from the years 1100 to 1400 with the public.
Visitors can enjoy archery demonstrations, birds of prey shows, ancient crafts, see torture devices on display and much more. Younger visitors can participate in educational workshops specifically designed for them or have their faces painted while learning about history.
