mythos-opera-festival-taorminaThe great tenor Rudy Park will be Radamès in Aida on August 24th at the Ancient Theater of Taormina. Rudy Park, one of the greatest tenors in the world, will be the most awaited protagonist of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, on August 24th at the Teatro Antico of Taormina. The evening will be dedicated to the late Giuseppe Di Stefano, one of the most appreciated tenors of all time, 10 years after his death. The second edition of the Mythos Opera Festival is therefore embellished by the presence of the esteemed Korean artist, who will play the role of Radamès. The direction is entrusted to Nino Strano, formerly assistant director of Franco Zeffirelli and Mauro Bolognini. “Rudy Park is considered one of the most important voices of recent years,” explains Enrico Stinchelli, artistic director of the Mythos Opera Festival, “because he is a lyrical tenor, with an extraordinary, enormous voice. His voice has not been heard since the days of Mario Del Monaco and Franco Corelli, who are among other things, his idols. It is a rare voice. Today, in fact, the light tenors, Rossini’s tenors, and the smallest voices abound. He instead has a torrential voice, of beautiful quality and suitable, to be clear, to works like Aida, La forza del destino, Turandot.”

It is very difficult to find interpreters for the role of Radames, it is considered among the most difficult tenor roles in the operatic repertoire, much more than Turandot.” The presence of Rudy Park is a confirmation of the great quality of the Mythos Opera Festival. “It is a contented contention, so to speak, from the Arena of Verona and from all the great seasons of this period,” explains the artistic director, “It will first be La Cavalleria Rusticana and then immediately after Aida. They are two roles for great voices. So in Taormina, for the first time in the last 16 years, a great and important voice returns. The last great Radamès was in 2002, Lando Bartolini, the great Radamès of the Metropolitan and Scala. Aida is a work created for the great voices so for us it is a very important purchase.”
