The 2022 International White Truffle Fair in Alba, Piedmont

Home » The 2022 International White Truffle Fair in Alba, Piedmont

From October 8th through December 4th, 2022, one of the most important truffle fairs in the world returns to Alba. For the 92nd edition, the beautiful historic center of Alba (Cuneo, Piedmont) will come alive, and above all, will be filled with the aroma of one of the most prized delicacies in the world: the Tuber Magnatum Pico or, more simply, the white truffle.

Time Is Up

“Time is up” is the theme chosen for this edition and the reason is simple: climate change, a term that comes up on a daily basis. Truffles can also be an indication of climate change. The Piedmont region has suffered a particularly dramatic year due to an unprecedented drought.

The Markets: Truffles and More

The Fair is above all the ideal opportunity to buy the finest white truffles from the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero areas. If choosing the perfect truffle makes you anxious, don’t worry because there will be expert judges available to give advice and to ensure that every truffle sold is of the highest quality.

The star of the show is obviously the white truffle but there will be every local product available as well as wine for tasting and for purchase. The various markets take place every weekend (and some during the week) in the various squares of the historic center: Piazza Pertinace, Piazzetta Costanzo Bubbio, Piazza Risorgimento, and Piazza Garibaldi.

Cooking Shows

The cooking shows are one of the most anticipated events of the fair and some of the most revered chefs on an international level will be present to teach their techniques and of course, how to use white truffles in the kitchen. Many of the slots are already sold out so don’t wait to make a reservation! They take place every weekend from 11 to 6 pm in the Beppe Fenoglio Room inside the Cortile della Maddalena.

There are only limited spots left for the tasting workshops (laboratori del gusto) with various themes from which to choose: homemade pasta, wine tasting, and the truffle sensorial workshop.

Alba Truffle for Kids

The fair also has a plan in mind for all the children that will be attending the event with their parents. A large hall has been reserved especially for the little ones where their creativity and imagination can come alive. Tickets are required and are available for purchase online.

Baccanale dei borghi: A Historic Reenactment

The weekend of October 15-16 will be even more special because all throughout the historic center, a historic reenactment will take place transporting you to Alba’s medieval times. Don’t miss it!
