Home » Where to Stay on the Teramana Coast: Hotel Il Casale in Martinsicuro

The stretch of the Adriatic coastline in the northern part of Abruzzo is known as the Teramana Coast (named after the province of Teramo). There are seven coastal towns known as the “seven sisters” (or le sette sorelle in Italian) that make up this 45 km stretch of wide, golden sandy beaches and stunning water. The northernmost of these is Martinsicuro and this is where the lovely Il Casale Hotel is located.

Il Casale Hotel in Martinsicuro

Il Casale has a total of 12 cozy apartments ranging from 30 to 35 square meters all with kitchenettes. Each of the apartments also has air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a balcony, and free Wi-Fi. The owner has a passion for Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese practice of harmonizing the environment, which is reflected in the rooms.

Il Casale was actually a restaurant before it was a hotel so you can rest assured that the food is truly delicious. The on-site restaurant specializes in seafood and the catch of the day and is known for serving abundant portions! What’s more, in addition to offering traditional Abruzzese dishes, Il Casale also serves sushi, prepared right on site.

Guests can choose the bed & breakfast option which includes breakfast or simply rent the mini-apartment.

From here, you’ll only be a short walk to the town center and to the beach (500 meters away). In the summer months, the hotel provides an umbrella and 2 chaise lounges at a nearby private beach for their guests’ convenience.

If you’re traveling with kids then Il Casale is perfect for you because there is a playground right next to the hotel. Pets are welcome upon request.

What to See in Martinsicuro

Martinsicuro was just an old fishing village that tourists have only recently discovered for its pristine beaches and family-friendly atmosphere. There are a total of 7 towns (Martinsicuro, Alba Adriatica, Tortoreto, Giulianova, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Pineto, and Silvi) all connected by a fabulous bike path that is one of only a few of its kind in all of Italy.

To state the obvious, most people come here for the sea and this stretch of the Adriatic boasts one Blue Flag beach after another. Tortoreto also boasts the Green Flag award which means that it is perfect for kids. There is also a waterpark here- fun for the entire family!

But there is much more to see and explore in this area of Abruzzo besides the beach.

In the Immediate Area

Martinsicuro borders the Marche region to the north and in just 30 minutes,  you can be in San Benedetto del Tronto* and Grottammare on the Riviera delle Palme, another highly sought-after coastal city.

Or perhaps you prefer exploring the many inland hilltop villages that are in the immediate area such as Colonnella and Controguerra. Both of these are part of the Strada del Vino where you can stop for wine tasting and enjoy local specialties. Wines of this area include Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano, and Passerina among others.

Civitella del Tronto, which boasts the largest fortress in all of Italy, and Campli*, famous for its sanctuary and Holy Stairs, are about 45 minutes away from the hotel.

National Parks

In about an hour and a half, you can also reach Abruzzo’s national parks such as Gran Sasso and the Campo Imperatore plateau where outdoor enthusiasts will be in heaven with the variety of activities available in all seasons.
