The concert season of Campobasso began on Saturday, October 14th and features 22 events dedicated to music, that will take place until March 2018. This is a way to reopen the places of culture throughout the area, involving especially young people. There will also be appointments with great orchestras and famous soloists, such as the Mav Symphony Orchestra, the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra, which will close the cycle dedicated to Brahms, as well as the new Ferruccio Busoni Chamber Orchestra, which is an Italian reality renowned all over the world.
But there will be many other interesting concerts, such as all women’s ones, and two training events of great value for young students, who want to deepen their knowledge of chamber music repertoire. Most of the concerts will be performed at the Savoia Theatre of Campobasso, a cultural symbol of the city.
It is part of a complex built in the years 1923-25 on the area of the former Margherita Theatre which, inaugurated in 1894, was made of wood and covered with bricks and stuccoes and could hold about 700 people. During the 1920s some alterations were made: frescoes, stained glass windows and wrought iron works were realized. Then, its name was changed into Savoy Theatre. In 1993, the Province of Campobasso acquired the property of the theatre and began a gradual redevelopment project which then led to a new inauguration in 2002.
