Valtournenche: The Place Closest to My Heart

Home » Valtournenche: The Place Closest to My Heart

Valtournenche and Cervinia in the Aosta Valley are the places I hold most dear. I have memories of my first endeavors with a camera under the guidance of my father, who had conquered the Matterhorn from the Swiss side and who loved to photograph it more than anything else in the world. Then, there are the moments spent with my friends at the picnic area during town festivals, the most beautiful conversations of my life thus far- all preserved in the depths of this heart.

These photographs symbolize the Matterhorn immortalized at the end of the main street of Cervinia on a summer day under an incredibly clear sky. I love photographing this mountain framed by flowers, a symbol of purity, of absolute majesty.

And then when you start to climb towards Valtournenche, the mountain seems to greet you every time, welcoming you into the arms of this immense valley. The mountains so close to my heart seem to welcome me back home.
